Not everything will go as you expect in your life.
This is why you have to give yourself permission to drop
all of your expectations and go with the flow.
Change truly is, the only constant.
Change is inevitable in this beautiful journey we call life. There is much to be said for the practice of continuously refining the intellectual understandings that we gain through the process of living out our day to day. In every instance, there is opportunity for growth; albeit in success or hardship. As practitioners on this path it is important that we remain dedicated to a constant state of expanding our knowledge and skill, so that we can show up in this world from a place of bold truth and authenticity.
We study not only the scriptures and literature passed down to us. We also take on the process of studying our own actions, methods and relationships to cultivate an inexhaustible desire for self remembrance, Smarana. Remember the wisdom of Patanjali as he defines the action of yoga and how its promised is realized:
Sutra 4.2 jaty-antara-parinamah prakrity-apurat
Jatyantara – Jaty + Antara – To another category
Parinamah – Transformation
Prakriti – The most subtle of form or substance of nature
Apurat – Becoming saturated in; Absorption
It is by absorption into the subtle elements of nature itself that we transform from one category of being to another; Self realization. Change is the pathway to transformation.
I am hoping that this passage encourages you to find the time and discipline in your daily life for the promise of yoga. Change will always be an aspect of our journey. Depth, duration and consistency towards your practice is key for developing your skill set to manage change effectively.
